INTERIOR DESIGN OCTOBER 2009
Astrid de Saint Anthost took a walk in the woods for her Bois collection, which draws on wood, bark, and moss for inspiration, PIN, French for pine, The wandering lines (representing pine's natural grain) were hand-painted on a surface; then, 58-inch-wide linen gauze was placed atop the trafic paint.

''This resist printed and hand painted textile
illustrates Le Studio Anthost's dedication to traditional
textile design techniques as well as new ones. Founder
Astrid de St Antost collaborated with fashion designer
Christian Cota to create this engineered print based on
organic forms.''

''With Piscine 1, Astrid de Saint Anthost riffs on the
swimming pool paintings of British artist David Hockney. To
replicate the water's shimmering patterns, she created a
stencil and painted the pattern onto white organza with
black and silver lacquer. The result is perfect for draperies
because as the sun filters through the sheer organza, the
painted areas cast watery shadows. Also available in linen.
Both materials measure 58 inches wide...''

''…One look around De Saint Anthost's studio
and you'll see that it is a place for exploration.
Dried paint is splattered on the table and floors with
bottles of paint are stocked on white shelves in
the back of the studio like a paint can display at Home
Depot. Stencils, markers, pattern paper, muslin, scissors,
paint-brushes, glue and other art supplies borther the studio,
while stacks of Q-tips are scattered on the tables as if a mad
scientist had used the studio as a test center...''

INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE 11.2008
''...Astrid de Saint Anthost offers a
modern take on lace by translating the delicacy of
the medium 's ornate florals into something more
structured. The result is Vitraux 2. She silkscreens
the design in glue onto organza, covers the fabric
in glss crystals, and shakes off the excess.
Custom backgrounds and colors are offered...''

''...The Tumultosa halogen floor lamp will sweep
you away. Crackled, airbrushed white paint on overlaying
strips of white organza result in the organic textures
of its flowing, drape-like shade. Hung within a 6-foot-tall
gunmetal frame on a dark oak base, each is hand-made.
It's also offered as a ceiling lamp...''

ELLE MAGAZINE 05.2004
..'Blame it on tried-and-true laws of supply and demand
that in an age of megastores, a longing for one-of a kind clothing
is back. And according to Astrid de Saitn Anthost, who produces
hand-painted fabrics with fellow French expat Vanessa Morel out of
their Astoria, Queens, atelier, New York is the new capital of
custom-made. She and Morel recently channeled their imaginations
into a commission for Carolina Herrera's fall collection. Their
handiwork turned up on a moire gown with a gilded bodice, a blue
dress with a matchstick pattern, and a black organza skirt...''

INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE 05.2007
...''Halloween comes early this year with eerie Fantomes,
Astrid de Saint Anthost folds a piece of light, medium or
heavyweight linen (or a custom fabric) in random pleats, iron
the pleats down, then airbrushes the cloth. When unfolded and
ironed flat, apparitions appear where the cloth was untouched.
The 58-inch-wide fabric can be airbrushed in custom colors...''

INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE 10.2004
...'Having worked in and provided textiles to some of the
world's premier fashion houses. Astrid de Saint Anthost has
a background that informs her simple but unerringly
sophisticated designs. We appreciate her quality fabric choices,
like the double-lace leather selected for Brown Leaves...''

INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE SPRING 2008
...''Take a walk through the windmills of your mind with the Parallele
line. Designer Astrid de Saint Anthost aims to examine the life that our
unconscious leads when we're doing other things, so she and fellow
designer looked at a strong stripe, then closed their eyes and drew
what came to them. The result: Subliminale, an ethereal, swirled pattern
whose lines curve into vague flower shapes, and Paves, whose lines
are more subtle. The standard 58-in-wide organzas are offered in
custom colors. Paves was the springboard for Anemone, part of Oikos
(Greek for 'ecology') collection, which is inspired by, and strives
to use, only organic, natural dyes on natural fabrics...''

INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE SPRING 2008
...''Astrid the Saint Anthost's studio creates hand-painted fashion
fabrics for the likes of John Galliano at Dior and Christian Lacroix.
For one version of Anthost's and Elizabeth Polish's 23-inch-diameter
Alberi cast-iron chandeliers, the studio hand-paints bare branches
in white onto concentric tubes stiched from panels of vinyl that
resist heat from the incandescent bulb. Alternate versions paint
the design onto organza bonded to the vinyl, in custom colors.

FLAUNT MAGAZINE 10.2007
...''The work is done by hand and is generally painstaking.
''I love the technical part of surface design, changing fabric texture
by applying rough sand or shiny lacquer'' says anthost, listing
a fraction -a tenth, perhaps- of her growing arsenal of techniques.
A few years ago, for Carolina Herrera, she stamped glue-dipped
sponges and cashmere. laid gossamer foil sheets on top, and then
brushed off the excess to reveal mottled gold patterns...''
